:: Asarnha Bucha Day

Surrounded by the mountainous landscape, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Tourism Authority of Thailand holds a mountain bike competition in Bhumibol Dam area. The competition ranges from 10 – 60 km. Amateur and professional mountain bikers enjoy the scenery of Thailand’s largest dam.
Asarnha Bucha Day is worshipped because of three important events occurring on the day called the Triple Gem commemorating the first sermon given by the Buddha called the Dhammachakapavattama Sutta concerning the our Noble Truths presented to the Buddhas first five disciples. The sermon set in motion the Wheel of Dhamma which is the meaning of Dhammachaka
:: Khao Phansa Buddhist Lent Day

Buddhist Lent Day is a period of three lunar months during the rainy season when monks are required to remain in one particular place or wat (temple). Khao Phansa Day is on the first day after the full moon of the eighth lunar month (this year is on July 14th,2003) and marks the beginning of the three-month Buddhist lent period. The tradition of Buddhist Lent or the annual three-month rains retreat known in Thai as "Phansa". Khao Phansa means to remain in one place during the rainy season. Phansa represents a time of renewed spiritual vigor and Khao Phansa festival is a major Buddhism merit-making festival.
:: Wichit Phrae Wa Silk Festival

Wichit Phrae Wa Silk Festival is held annually on August 12, at Rim Pao Hotel to honour HM Queen Sirikit who has kindly supported the Phrae Wa silk under her royal patronage and promoted it to wider public awareness. The event features a Phrae Wa silk contest, fashion show of Phrae Wa silk dresses, cultural parade, demonstration of silk weaving, and sales of Phrae Wa silk.
:: HM The Queen’s Birthday (Mother’s Day)

Aug 12th is a National Holiday as the Thai people celebrate H.M.The Queen’s Birthday. Aug 12th is quite appropriately also Mother’s Day in Thailand as Queen Sirikit is affectionately considered to be the Mother of the Thai Nation. All over Thailand, many streets will be festooned with flowers and flags and photographs of H.M. Queen Sirikit.

On Sart Chin Day, the three realms of Heaven, Hell and the Earth open up for a whole month so that spirits can roam the earth in search of food and entertainment. People organize food offering ceremonies at home to make merit, and also distribute food and other necessities for those in need.
